It will be an interesting site to watch - but this Age journalist couldn't be more condescending...

Unlike 'traditional' news websites, The Vine will also feature user contributed content, also known as citizen journalism.

Journalists are citizens too btw.

Oh & thanks for the education.

Only a little disconcerted that today (05/09/08), these are the top five news headlines

News

1. Facebook proves fatal
2. From post office to pot office
3. Cyclone Nargis kills 10 000
4. Lindsay Lohan and her ugly mug
5. Malaysia drops idea of travel restriction for women

Two might be news although I heard about them yesterday and the current predictions (ie that I heard on the radio this morning) are that Cyclone Nargis will kill in excess of 100 000 or more.

Not really a responsive site then....

mind you what can we expect from a site that has this as a driving philosophy:

that if they contribute to the site, the prospect that they could become famous," Ms Pollard said.

"They want their fifteen megabytes of fame - that desire to have peer recognition."
